4 Days KOMODO Island Experience
Komodo is a small island of 280 square km located between the islands of Sumba and Flores. The island is almost all hill and barren except for palm trees and some wood but it is famous for its giant lizards which are considered the last of their kind remaining in the world today. Komodo dragon (Varanus Komodoensis) is actually a giant monitor lizard. Growing up to 2,5 - 3 meters in length, 45 150 kg weighs and can run at speeds of 20 km per hour. Its ancestors roamed the earth up to about half million years ago. It is both carnivorous and fearsome predator, utilizing a strategy of stealth and power to capture prey. Komodo lives on carrions of goats, deer, and even the carcasses of its own kind.   DAY 01: BIMA SAPE KOMODO
On arrival at Bima, meeting service and followed with 1.5 hr picturesque drive to Sape Harbour. Board the motor vessel and depart for a sunset cruise to Komodo Island, home to the largest monitor lizard in the world. These giant carnivorous lizards can grow to be 12 feet in length, known locally as Ora. Estimated over 2000 on this island and they can be seen year-round. Evening arrival at the island, dinner and overnight aboard.
Day 02: KOMODO RINCA
Morning explorations of the island by half an hour walk to Banunggulung to see the Komodo Dragon, the largest monitor lizard in the world, in their natural habitat. The island is also home to the mound-building megapode bird, the sulfur-crested cockatoo, the noisy friar bird and tropical flora. Visit the village of Komodo to meet the people who share their island with the dragons. Sail to neighbouring Rinca Island with en route stop for swimming and snorkelling. Dinner and overnight aboard.
Day 03: RINCA SAPE BIMA
Morning walk through the rolling hills and riverine thickets of Rinca. Besides the dragons, also discover wild pig and Timor deer, while attempting to spot some wild horses. Cruise back toward Sape harbour, then transfer to the hotel in Bima for dinner and accommodation.
Day 04: BIMA OUT
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
